Draga Šušanj is a Yugoslavian-born American environmentalist, multidisciplinary artist, and
photographer.
The most formative influences on Šušanj’s work are her early, close connections to her grandfather’s
mountaintop land on the brink of wilderness and the sense of uprootedness caused by the war.
For more than two decades of nomadic practice, Šušanj has delved into the social notions of belonging
to nature as our home. She explores culture-nature relations in the identity of a place, creating
ephemeral, site-specific installations with materials originating from this context.
