This work emerged from my time spent in residence in Misaki-Chou, Japan. The garment is made from a
selection of antique kimono silk, natural indigo dyed cotton, eco-printed fabric, and other fabric
waste. It unties into a long train which is then strung up and pulled across the field. I was
interested in what letting go looked like, how distance, leaving, and “lightening” could be perceived
and how presence and immersion can be cultivated through a site-specific performance. The piece was
accompanied by an original voice composition by my good friend Jenni van Doesburgh.
