Kim V. Goldsmith

Kim V. Goldsmith is a multidisciplinary artist, writer and creative producer who works across Regional
Australia and internationally. Her creative practice is informed by her background in journalism,
communications, agriculture, regional development, and natural resource management. Kim’s process is a
mix of field-based exploration, observation, documentation, and research, tapping into a wide range of
specialist knowledge. Her work is mostly site-specific, involving repeated visits over months or years
to chosen locations. While her practice leans towards field-recorded sound and soundscape
compositions, Kim also incorporates video, sensory installation, storytelling, and writing in her
work, as well as engaging the public through soundwalks, story sharing walks, and panel discussions.

Her process-driven, interdisciplinary approach to the challenging social and ecological issues faced
by rural and regional communities creates new perspectives and gives agency to unheard voices,
including the more-than-human. Kim’s work in this area continues to evolve as she explores the many
layers of nuance and complexity within the territories across which she works, seeking the hidden
elements that make them vibrate.

Kim is active within several Australian and international creative and environmental networks. Her
work has been presented and published in Australia and internationally.
