BIENVENU (WELCOME) – living site-specific land art installation Sentier d’Art_la fête de mai 2019 - Gesves, Belgium Materials: chairs, willow branches Size: diameter ca. meters 6 x h max 1.20 m
The Installation is shaped as a round seat with a skeleton made with old chairs donated by the inhabitants. The chairs are covered by a dense weaving of willow branches, getting an installation welcoming pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders walking the long path connecting some villages of the Region. It is a living work: some willow branches are planted in the ground and over the years they’ll sprout and grow, going to reinforce the work while the old chairs will be subject to natural degradation. The work is part of the wider long term project “Welcome” on the issues of interconnections between welcoming, people, art and the environment.
