Land art/poetry project: sculpture route that is part of the cultural festival ‘Zomer op Schokland’. The route is 6 km and passes 20 statues. With each artwork you will find a card with a photo and poem. You can collect a collection of poems on foot. The idea is that the works of art and the poems - related to the landscape, the stories of Schokland or otherwise - bring you closer to the land. Walking or cycling through Arnhem, past the late 19th century mansions built in an eclectic style. Then you can imagine that the bay windows, the turrets that offer space for at most one person, are an ideal place to write or read poems. We built such a tower for one person for Schokland from the sky-blue foam, styrofoam. The (very) Late Romantic building, somewhat hidden somewhere, slightly dissonates in the somewhat austere Schokland. The building is super light, floats above the ground as it were, and can be reached via an umpire’s chair. ‘Ins blaue hinein’, the visitor can read a poem or write a poem while looking out over the country.
