The central theme of my work is the human relationship with nature. I focus on environmental/site-specific art, objects and installations. I take time to research and experience the location. I try to find the ‘entrance’ to that place, in order to formulate an artistic answer to it. I am fascinated by the different aspects of growth. How nature grows, how growth gets out of tune, how the growth of one hinders or stops or stimulates the growth of another. It can be among species or between natural and non-nature. Human culture develops as a fungus onto nature, changing it into something different.
In my latest work this translates among other work into ‘culture growing over nature’, using ‘cultural’ materials such as (broken) porcelain and carpet that cover forms that are derived from nature, or comment on human culture. The works are inviting to be touched or in some cases even entered.
