The Web of Life Installation

_AB77428.jpg

Material Used: jute rope and bamboo

The web of life installation through a spider’s web in the bamboo hut shows how we are all linked to
each other. It is also inspired by Fritjof Capra’s work (published in 1997) wherein he provides an
extraordinary new foundation for ecological policies that will allow us to build and sustain
communities without diminishing the opportunities for future generations. The Web of life portrays
Natures as an interdependent collection of systems that starting with the sun’s energy that transports
and transforms the energy that drives Nature on Earth. We must view ourselves as a small part of this
complex web, but remember, Nature’s system can easily survive without Humans. And the notions of
interconnected web of life does not facilitate the human dominance that the Earth is experiencing now.
We are one brief generation in the long march of time. And we should remember the future of Earth is
not ours to erase.
