Bart Ensing makes art with and in nature. Sculptures of wood found in nature, organically designed. And installations, mostly in nature. His art practice is all about connections. Connections in nature, e.g. between trees, connections between man and nature and between humans. He wants to use his visual art as a way to show these connections, to make the invisible visible. Many of his installations are made with threads in trees, connecting the branches of the tree with the ground it grew from, and further. This results in a meditative type of installations. With light it becomes magical.
Sometimes he brings nature inside. Large, in a church or old factory, or small and poetic, in a bell jar or even wine glass. Ensing prefers to make his installations on location, site-specific. Taking into account the history and geography of the place. He is inspired by the location. Even if he does start with a global plan, the final result depends on the environment and on his inspiration of the moment.
He invites people to see and experience their connection with nature.
He wants to make you ‘watch, feel and marvel’.
