The interaction between people and their environment is central to the work of visual artist Annechien
Meier. Her project organisation, Laboratory for Microclimates, aims to stimulate awareness and
participation in people’s immediate social and ecological environments, thereby increasing the positive
influence on nature and the climate. As a pioneer in urban agriculture, she prioritised the removal of
paving stones and the cultivation of vegetables in the city. Her local and international art projects,
such as land art, water, and climate projects, now pursue a broader goal of raising the importance of
nature and the climate in people’s lives.
